The Helm of Awe is a silver pendant made of 925 sterling silver, which is surrounded by a magical rune circle. Also known as the Helmet of Awe, it is a Viking symbol of Nordic mythology. In order to develop its effects, the wearer must first press it against his forehead. Like the Viking people, they wore the symbol on the inside of their combat helmet or between their eyes for protection in battle and to protect themselves from magical attacks.
Runes are an ancient writing system used by nordic germanics. Unlike other writing systems, runes were mostly used for religious and not everyday purposes. Nowadays you can find thousands of of ancient rune stones all over scandinavia and Germany.
