Thor's Hammer with Vegvisir and Ibex Motifs
This pendant in 925 sterling silver combines Nordic-inspired symbolism with a distinctive design. A round Vegvisir symbol occupies the top. Dense interlacing leads down to a broad hammer head with two outward-facing animal heads and a central horned motif. Bright relief edges stand out against a dark background. At 44 mm long and 38 mm wide, the model combines several Nordic-inspired motifs in a generous composition.
Motif and Meaning
Mjolnir refers to Thor, while the Vegvisir belongs to a later Icelandic tradition of symbols. It is recorded in the Huld manuscript of 1860 and associated with finding the way. The design therefore combines motifs of different origins. Personally, it can unite ideas of direction and determination; the Vegvisir is not an original Viking compass.
Styling Suggestion
A simple chain leaves space for the different layers of design. Worn alone against a plain top, the symbol, interlacing and animal heads remain distinct.
